Mariah Carey to Promote Her Collection on HSN Again Plus She Reveals Sex of Twins

Mommy-to-be Mariah Carey isn't letting her pregnancy slow her down. In fact, the expecting mother is gearing up to appear on HSN again on February 11th to promote The Mariah Carey Collection, which includes jewelry, shoes and perfume.

For her last appearance, she was the cutest pregnant lady on the studio couch with her feet up. This time, she gets an even more comfortable locale: her home. Makes sense as she's moving closer to the due date, and those twins can't be easy to carry around all day.

Speaking of the twins, Mariah announced she and Nick are having a boy and a girl (swoon!). How adorable! P.S. Everyone doubted them as a couple but I'm so thrilled for them. It seems like they're truly happy together and Nick's going to be the most fun, playful Dad to those kids. I love it!

Anyway, back to the collection. Of course, the jewelry is adorned with butterflies and admittedly, I'm not 100% crazy about that motif (though I loved The Butterfly album, lol).

What got my attention is the footwear---Mariah's known for her love of heels---and the gold platform sandals and fur-lined boots are fun and glamourous. She'll also be pushing her extensive collection of fragrances, Lollipop Bling, Forever, Luscious and M by Mariah Carey during her appearance.

Would you Wear...Clothing Designed by Mariah Carey?

You knew it was coming. Mariah Carey debuted Forever by Mariah Carey fragrance, and a clothing line is a logical next step, right?

The iconic, Grammy Award-winning singer is taking her designs to HSN, launching a brand entitled Mariah Designs. 

As for pricing, the jewelry will range from $39-199, and the footwear from $69-170. Her limited-edition fragrance, Luscious Pink, will also be available.

While I'm pretty much obsessed with Mariah Carey's music from Emotions up to her last album, I have to admit her style philosophy has never been my favorite. From the glitter and butterflies (which take me to a parallel universe populated with Queens) to the spandex dresses clinging to her every curve, Mariah Carey falls short of a style icon.





If her collection looks anything like that, well, count me out. Would you shop Mariah's new clothing line? Is she the right choice to design for a brand? Discuss.

Check Out The Ad For Mariah Carey's New Fragrance, Lollipop Bling

I don't know about you guys, but so far I've loved every fragrance that songtress Mariah Carey has created, so I'm sure that I'll love these cute new fragrances as well.
Inspired by the 2008 proposal from hubby Nick Cannon (he gave her an actual Ring Pop!), Carey is now offering her own interpretations through cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden and Topps Company (makers of the original Ring Pops).
"The inspiration for Lollipop Bling was Nick's marriage proposal to me," she said in a recent press release. "He first surprised me with a ring-pop - romantic, fun and young-at-heart - like me!"
Lollipop Bling is a trio of fragrances based on candy flavors named after Carey's songs and includes Ribbon (which features notes of blue raspberry); Honey (a tropical pineapple infusion) and Mine Again (includes notes of chocolate and raspberry). It hits Macy's and Dilliard's on July 1 and you'll even get a real Ring Pop with your purchase. Each fragrance will retail for $35 (for 1 oz).

Too Big for Tinseltown? No Way!

Introducing best actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe at the Oscars, "Precious" producer Oprah Winfrey revealed her as a "true American Cinderella on the threshold of a brilliant new career."  Although questions have arisen of Sidibe's size being a detriment to her career, the talented new actress has proven many wrong so far. Above is the video clip from the pre-Oscar Strategy Room on Fox News with Dr. Jennifer Walden, Dr. Manny Alvarez, Dr. Cynara Coomer, and other experts with a health perspective on our favorite newcomers.

With Hollywood being such a superficial environment, it is interesting to read editorial on the topic. On ABC.com, New York casting director Bernard Telsey said Sidibe's size is both a plus and minus:  "It's going to make her not right for the new 'Romeo and Juliet,' but it's going to make her right for the role that needs her for that specificity," Telsey told ABCNews.com. "There's room in Hollywood for someone who looks like her," Telsey said. "Sure, there will be fewer roles, but there's always less of everything for people who are unique and original and different."

Set in Harlem in 1987, “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”, features Sidibe as the heart-wrenching Claireece “Precious” Jones, an obese sixteen year-old African-American girl who is pregnant for the second time by her otherwise absent father. At home, she is always ridiculed and abused by her tragic mother, played by Mo’Nique, who has basically turned her daughter into an indentured servant. With no money or emotional support and falling horribly behind in school, Precious is by all accounts destined to a forgotten caste surrounded by welfare offices and misery. Yet, beneath the hopeless surface, she is a savvy girl who still dreams and believes in herself. She is given a chance at an alternative school taught by a caring yet firm teacher and the emotional nightmare and a supportive social worker, played to a tee by pop diva Mariah Carey.

In October, Sidibe was front and center on the New York Times with a lengthy Magazine story on the film. Indiewire.com wrote: With all of its festival and media attention throughout the year, expectations are obviously heightened, but Sidibe still seems in awe of it all.  “It was an honor, I mean, just to be on the cover of anything. I don’t expect to be on the cover of anything,” Sidibe said with a hint of nervous laughter, but then added with a tone that might have been words coming from Precious. “I think people look at me and don’t expect much. Even though, I expect a whole lot.”

What an excellent job she did in the heartbreaking movie, Precious.  Now we can't wait to see Gabourey Sidibe in her next film!
