Fashion Faceoff: Kelly Rowland vs. J-Wow's Revealing Pasties on New Year's Eve

We thought pasties were a thing of the past once Lady Gaga and Rihanna retired them. We couldn't have been more wrong.

Pasties reemerged in a big way on New Year's Eve with Kelly Rowland going full frontal in Vegas and J-Wow of Jersey Shore letting it all hang out in NYC.






We're totally not surprised by J-Wow's indecent exposure but Kelly left us shocked. Sure she's a diva with a huge Queen following as of late, but she was never as risque as say a Jersey Shore cast-member.







Pasties aren't for me (not brave enough, like, at all) but I believe if you bought it, flaunt it so more power to you, Kelly! And though she leaves little to the imagination in this look, her sheer, studded black top and diamond studs almost look classy next to J-Wow's rhinestone necklace and open blazer. Almost.

New York Fashion Week: BCBGMaxAzria Spring 2011

BCBGMaxAzria is always one of the first shows during New York Fashion Week, and as such, it sets the tone.

With young, chic starlets who will no doubt be wearing the dresses soon in the front row (Kelly Rowland, Coco Rocha and Ashlee Simpson), designer Max Azria showed a cohesive, wearable collection of lightweight dresses made for easy summer days and nights.


The aesthetic was decidedly understated and minimalist with fluid silhouettes and breezy shapes reigning supreme. While the show seemed rooted in neutrals (nudes, beiges, etc.) and whites (The Classic LWD) in the beginning, toward the end of the runway punchy pinks and rich oranges made a bolder statement.











The longer dresses were just as clean and chic, with touches of lace or sheer skirts adding renewed interest. The beauty look was equally subtle: bare makeup and sleek ponytails that emphasize natural, effortless beauty.






Very elegant and simplistic, the dresses weren't without a touch of modernity that will please BCBGMaxAzria's more trendy fans like Kristin Cavallari, Kelly Rowland and Solange Knowles. Lace details, sheer flutter sleeves, soft ruffles, criss-cross color-blocking, wrap stiletto sandals and one-shoulder necklines were youthful, fashion-conscious touches that brought the collection its cool factor. And we can't forget those dangerously short hemlines which highlight the one fashion rule that never changes: legs are always in style.




















Without a doubt, BCBGMaxAzria will again provide the Spring wardrobe stables for young, fashionable women across the globe. I've got my eye on this vibrant pink frock, which dress do you love the most?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kelly Rowland Performs in NYC in a Christian Siriano Jumpsuit

Kelly Rowland shut down New York's PC and Richards theater last night with a performance of her top hits from "When Love Takes Over" to "Commander." She also threw in a Destiny's Child medley for the supportive crowd, which included friends Serena Williams and Jessica White.




But the real star of the show was her sleeveless Christian Siriano jumpsuit that fit her like a glove. She seemed bold and confident while showing off her curves, even popping her hips and thrusting her crotch at the audience. She paired it with black ankle boots.

I love Christian Siriano's signature pattern but Glamazons, not so sure that the jumpsuit was Kelly's best fashion moment. What's your verdict? Is it Glam or Sham?

Kelly Rowland's Perfect Body in Her Album Promo Pics

For all intents and purposes, Kelly Rowland will henceforth be referred to as Black Barbie. That is the only way to aptly capture her perfect body.

Milelong legs, a true flat stomach and gorgeous skin, Kelly Rowland stuns in her promo pics for her album, which has now been pushed back to late October for release. (She says she's still recording.)

How did they manage to hide/downplay all this beauty during her Destiny's Child years?

While I'm not crazy about the look in the leather jacket photo, I have to say it inspired me to get up early and do ab work before going to the office today.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Lala and Carmelo's Wedding with Kim Kardashian, Lebron James and More

While The-Dream and Christina Milian made their way to divorce court, Carmelo Anthony was in NYC putting a ring on Lala's finger.



Sure the engagement lasted forever, but I'm not judging. At least we know this isn't a fly-by-night marriage just so the kid isn't born out of wedlock (cough...Christina and The-Dream). 


And any event that brings out fabulous fashion is a celebration in my book. 


Check out the top looks of the night below (with designer names) and give your verdict on who was GLAM and who was a SHAM.





Lala arrived at the venue before the wedding looking fabulously casual and chic. I see those studded Christian Louboutin loafers, girl!





Kim Kardashian showed up in a Herve Leger dress, Loren jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels. She wore the tightest, most shimmery dress she could find---or is it just me? She certainly looked stunning and is a great friend; rumor has it she paid for Lala's wedding dress and one of her bachelorette parties.





Kelly Rowland has been getting it right these days in my book. The lovely singer wore a purple long-sleeved dress and leopard print pumps to the event. Very demure yet modern and classy at the same time. A class act!





Oh, Ciara. Is this look for the club or your friend's wedding? Between the busy print, the one-shoulder and the hemline that will creep up and display all her goodies with one wrong step, she looks a dusty sham (my opinion). And what in the Sasha-Fierce-hell is that on her finger? I can't.





Serena Williams does it again in a classy, flattering strapless dress, peeptoe pumps and a matching clutch. While I'm not crazy about the hair, I must say she looks chic and presentable.





Lala's good friend, and Beyonce's cousin, Angie Beyince, kept the leopard trend alive this time mixing it with royal blue. I think that dress is super-flattering on her figure (ruching and draping are your friends, ladies!) and am a big fan of the look.





"Couture" details aren't for everybody. Trina is gorgeous but this look gives me urban high school fashion show and that's not a good thing.





Miami Heat's most controversial player, Lebron James, showed up in a dapper gray suit and sleek shades with long-time girlfriend Savannah by his side. Maybe we'll see his wedding right after next year's championship ring? Haha (Shameless Lebron fan moment).




Ok, my favorites were clearly Kelly while Ciara and Kim Kardashian weren't following the rules of etiquette in my opinion (don't dress for the club at someone's wedding). Glamazons, give your verdict on the looks. Who was Glam and who was a Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kelly Rowland Channels Diana Ross with Big Hair

Yaaasss, Kelly Rowland!


The beautiful R&B songstress' new look is giving me over-the-top, Diana Ross/Donna Summer glamour. To promote her latest album, new video ("Commander" featuring David Guetta) and single ("Grown Woman"), Kelly has been spotted out and about rocking big, curly, voluminous hair.



The show-stopping style begs to be noticed. It frames Miss Kelly's elegant facial features, while making a statement that's decidedly free, fearless and bold. It makes the inner diva in me want to put on some platform shoes and dance in the middle of the street to "I'm Coming Out" underneath a shower of pink glitter.

Now, this is one singer that we don't usually see show too much skin, but Estelle had no problem showing off her gams (and bosom!) while performing onstage with Kelly Rowland and Cyndi Lauper at Thursday night's amfAR New York Gala. I personally think it's a good look for her! (Alright, maybe minus all that shimmer sparkly action going on.)

If I had known that there would be cross dressers, sequins, feathers and boas all over the place at the Patricia Fields fashion show Tuesday night, I would have worn an outfit more suitable for the occasion. I mean, I WAS attending a soiree for one of the zaniest fashion designers of them all (who just so happens to also be the brains behind the Sex And The City costumes) so I should have known better, right? Instead, I was wearing my LBD best and a cute tuxedo jacket; great for a cocktail party, but not for a fashion party such as this. But, alas, I still had a blast and it was nice to hear the cross dressers calling me "gorge" while there, so I didn't feel too bad!

Dubbed a "Swimsational Disco Soiree," the fashion show was a smorgasborg of bathing suits and cover-ups designed by Fields (ie David Dalrymple for House of Field), The Blonds and Ivan Sert. All shoes were from that fab Christian Siriano for Payless collection and gold jewelry from Ippolita. The sunglasses and and beach towels were designed by Field (House of Field).
I was allowed backstage access and got the low-down on this amazing hair created by none other than Rodney Cutler (for Redken). Forget those high-tower buns! It's all about a braid, and this inverted fish-tail braid updo is pretty epic.
"The high fishtail braid is a fun evening look and very wearable," Cutler said of the look. "We've seen so many buns up top and this is just taking it one step further."

Patricia Fields arrives on the scene. I just love her fierce red hair!



The "waitresses" handing out drinks during the party were so awesome! I made friends with them all lol.

The fashion show and party were held on the rooftop at 230 Fifth Avenue. The view here is beautiful at night. I loved the potted palm trees that were all over the place!



Kelly Rowland was at the party as well. I have no clue what Pat was going through when this pic was taken...I think she was yelling or something....smh.



And (randomly) the model Jessica White was there. I'm still trying to figure out why she's relevant...and why she thinks that she shouldn't wear body lotion (ie her continuos state of ashiness, see elbows and heels pictured above) AND why she always has that tacky white deodorant showing underneath her armpits?!



The actual fashion show consisted of models walking around on this deck in the looks amongst mannequins. I loved the looks, but don't the suits are actually functional bathing suits. They're more like "lounging" suits haha.
