Bluefly.com Launches Fragrance Boutique

In a perfect world, every retailer would embrace the power of labels and lipstick, and the luxury retailer Bluefly is doing just that with the launch of its fragrance boutique this week. I feel fancy just saying the words fragrance boutique! The boutique offers best-sellers and new releases and boasts brands such as Chanel, Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Clavin Klein, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce and more.


Finally, I can use this self-proclaimed “ultimate hook-up for the fashion obsessed” as a tool to merge my two loves, F&B (fashion and beauty) with just the click of a mouse. It gets even better because most of the fragrances are 40 percent off retail prices. I heard a few critics get a little rowdy because they thought that all of the fragrances would be discounted, but I’ll take most over none any day.


Here’s what Melissa Payner, president and CEO of Bluefly.com had to say about the addition of the fragrance boutique:

AD GLAM: Lara Stone for Calvin Klein Commercial [Video]

When I grow up, I want to be sexy like Lara Stone. She's so confident, sensual and uniquely beautiful it's no wonder Calvin Klein tapped her to be the exclusive face of their ads for the second season. They just have a knack for spotting what faces will be iconic (hello, Kate Moss, Zoe Saldana.)

In the commercial, Lara is sultry and glamorous, shown flying and driving to meet a tall, dark and handsome Calvin Klein man (Tyson Ballou), maybe for a secret rendezvous, and then, when they finally meet, the chemistry is explosive. Hot!

I especially love the part where he taps her lips. So funny that the same full lips I've had my whole life are considered seductive today. Now, everyone wants the Lara Stone pout, haha.

Is the New Calvin Klein Ad Simulating Gang Rape?

Let's be honest: Calvin Klein isn't known for being socially responsible when it comes to advertising. But their latest ad may be indecent and disturbing, even for them.

The photograph, which depicts a half-naked woman lying lifeless while surrounded by shirtless hunks (one on top of her, one grabbing her hair, another seemingly waiting his turn), was banned by Australia's Advertising Standards Bureau.

They claimed it invokes violence against women. One critic said the ad "imitates gang rape to advertise the brand."

I do see traces of gang rape in the ad: her lifeless body, her passivity while the surrounding men engage in aggressive physical contact, the gate which conjures thoughts of street violence and crime. But are we reading into the ad too much?

Claims of gang rape being simulated in ads are sadly not new. This ad brings to memory that of Dolce & Gabbana which I found equally alarming as it pictures a man pinning a woman down by the wrists while others stand waiting their turn.






And of course, who can forget the Akoo ad scandal in Newark where critics argued oral sex was being simulated to sell jeans?

The New Dark and Handsome Face of Calvin Klein: David Agbodji or Coutura's in Love

Boy, does Calvin Klein know how to pick them.

We've drooled over Djimon Hounsou and marveled over Mechad Brooks. (Because I love you, I included all their ads below).

But the latest star of the Calvin Klein ads is my personal favorite. Meet David Agbodji.

The 23 year-old Parisian-born model of African descent was handpicked for the new Calvin Klein campaign. According to NYMag.com, he loves photography, karate and basketball. Oh, isn't that a coincidence? I love them all now too.

Apparently, he's known for his full lips (gasp! so am I...) and is a Taurus (stop it! so am I...).

Check out swoon-worthy pics of him getting dressed below. Yum, yum, yum. Whatever Calvin Klein is selling, I'm buying.

Zoe Saldana Named New Face of Calvin Klein

After roles in two of the biggest films of the year, Zoe Saldana is showing no signs of slowing down. The Avatar actress was recently named the face of a new Calvin Klein lingerie product.

Beautiful and thin, Zoe certainly fits Calvin Klein's standard of beauty, and her new ads are smoking hot.

The product she's modeling is appropriately called Envy, because, umm, doesn't everyone want rock-solid abs?


Here's what Zoe, and the Calvin Klein president, had to say:



“We feel strongly that Zoe’s natural beauty and authenticity in the upcoming Calvin Klein Underwear campaign will resonate with our consumers," company president Tom Murphy said in a statement.


“Calvin Klein has always put forth such beautifully executed campaigns,” Saldana said. “It’s very exciting for me to be associated with such an iconic, globally recognized brand."

Model Lara Stone Is A Triple Threat

Could Lara Stone slowly be morphing into the new Kate Moss? Because she just signed a high dollar, triple, exclusive deal with Calvin Klein, Inc.
The 27-year-old Dutch native will be the new face of Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans for fall. (Above is an image of her from one of the new ads). This will mark the first time in eons that CK has chosen to use one model for all three of its brands. She began working with the fashion house in spring 2003.
"I have a long history with the Calvin Klein brand, and so it was wonderful to work with the house again this year," she told WWD. "It's like being part of a family."

Who knew that a gap in your teeth could be so lucrative?! I may not have the model figure, but I'm never closing up the tiny gap that I do have hahaha.
